Phoenix House, a national organization with more than 1,600 employees, had never had an intranet. We created a cross-functional team to explore opportunities, a network of employee contributors to coordinate resources, and a large sampling of employees to participate in user interviews and usability tests. We worked with an intranet developer to create a warm and inviting experience that made it easier for employees to complete daily tasks and learn from people across the country. In addition to user interviews, we utilized treejack tests to validate our information architecture for the over 500 page site. After launch, we reviewed use results and continued to iterate on design and structure.
