Artist Statement

I’m driven by a philosophy in which places are worth salvaging and people are worth empowering, often commenting on issues such as urban decay, memory, destruction, and resilience. After growing up being mesmerized by graffitied buildings, crumbling houses, and the people they contain, my paintings continue to reflect my evolving views on structure, societies and their environment.

Deep-rooted grit and cultural vibrancy collide as compositions playfully juxtapose painterly strokes with fragments of the world around us. Combinations of figurative, abstract, and architectural elements construct dream-like expanses where nostalgic memories and ambiguous futures collide.
