Client: School Project
Objective: For the Illinois State Board of Education, create an educational aid to teach students the metric system.
Requirements: Create a logo and an aid that could be used by the teacher or handed to the students to be kept, not thrown away. The target audience is 7th to 9th graders.
Objective: For the Illinois State Board of Education, create an educational aid to teach students the metric system.
Requirements: Create a logo and an aid that could be used by the teacher or handed to the students to be kept, not thrown away. The target audience is 7th to 9th graders.
After looking at different options for presenting the material, I decided to create a pocket size booklet of metric records. It would be interesting for the students and in order to understand the measurements of records, they would have to apply the metric system. Reference pages of conversions are in the back of the booklet and additional conversions appear on pages they apply to. The illustrations were first hand drawn, then digital backgrounds and outlines were added to make them age appropriate. The text for the records was aligned with a grid and made use of multiple fonts to keep it interesting.
